It's time to use FORSCAN and read the Ford specific DTC's. The injectors are being inhibited. Reading the DTC's with ForScan should give you the reason why.

I suspect the message was: "Powertrain malfunction" which is sadly far to common on AWD Kuga and the Focus RS.

Hi Folks, Looking for some help. I had a cooling issue recently so I fitted a new EGR Cooler, Thermostat and water pump. I flushed the radiator in case it was blocked and then refilled all the fluids. Started it up and it ran fine, ticking over in the driveway for over an hour. The minute I took it for a run it dumped all the water out again. No oil in the water/header tank, no emulsification in the oil filler. Not convinced it could be a head gasket so I need the wiring schematic for the electronic thermostat if anyone can supply this....

Hi all, Yes... This is another post on the 1.8 tdci non starting after fuel filter change. I've had the motor for a few years, it's been sat on my drive unused for the past year, I usually start it up occasionally and drive it around the neighborhood but it hasn't moved for around 9 months. I drove it around yesterday and it was running great although there seemed to be a bit of black smoke from the exhaust which didn't clear up even after 15 minutes running. Tried starting it this morning and it wont go. Checked the filter and it was packed with algae, the dreaded brown lumpy diesel bug. I changed the filter, cleaned the tank and all the fuel lines. Won't start... So far I have flushed and replaced the fuel in the tank and flushed all the lines. Vacuum pumped fuel to the new filter (with the o ring on the correct way) And then vacuum pumped the diesel to the pump return. Bled all of the air out of everything and it wont start still. Hooked the battery up to a running car, tried for 20 minutes and nothing. Pressure tested the fuel lines and the filter and it's all sealed. Replaced the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel pump and still nothing. In-between each step I have also been vacuum pumping diesel to ensure it's not got air in it. Removed the filter and replaced it with a bottle of clean diesel, the pump pulls all of it through without issue but still won't start. Drained the car battery, replaced with a new fully charged one and drained that, also tried hooked up to a running vehicle and still nothing. I've discovered it isn't pushing diesel to the injector distributor, all the fuel is going into the pump and being sent back to the tank on the return line. Cracked injectors while trying to start and no sign of diesel, everything is going back to tank via the return on the pump. Starts on brake cleaner/easy start and can maintain it running by spraying it every 10 seconds but even after doing this for 10 minutes it still won't start or send diesel to the injectors. Any ideas?

The official interval is every 150.000 Miles or 10 Years (whichever comes first). In practice it is highly recommended to reduce the interval to 8 Years. On a 2016 vehicle the wetbelts should be changed as soon as possible.
